Jen Ferguson has been teaching art to children in Dumbo since 2006, after creating an exhibition of art just for kids at her loft. She has teaching experience at the Bard College Preschool as well as the Mill Street Loft Summer Camp in Dutchess County, and holds degrees from both Bard College and Pratt University. She founded Possum Paint Studio, a studio art program for children in Dumbo Brooklyn and has headed children's programs for the Dumbo Business Improvement District. At present she teaches both private and semi-private art lessons for children and adults.

Philosophy
My art classes, whether for children or adults, are meant to encourage creative skills while emphasizing the development of an individual approach to process and accomplishment. In general, projects are flexible and tailored to each student according to his or her interests. For younger artists, this often translates into improved concentration, patience, follow-through and a sense of empowerment as they discover their creative powers, talents and preferences. For older kids and adults, this means learning how to focus their skills, find studio techniques that work for them and develop a personal form for their imaginations. – Jen Ferguson
