About The Artist

image

Jen Ferguson is a painter working in Brooklyn, NY. Her focus is on epic & monumental oils, both architectural and figurative. She also is known for small delicate drawings and watercolors.

Her art typically evokes both whimsy and disquiet. Brooklyn and other pared-down landscapes- interpreted in a mysterious glowing chiaroscuro- are the resonant backdrop for a recurring cast of folkloric and ghoulish characters and creatures. In contrast her architectural paintings are massive and loose renditions of symbolic structures; dripping evocative statements about decay and constant change.

Jen’s work is featured in “Art of the Brooklyn Bridge: A Visual History” (Richard Haw, Routledge 2008) and Blue Ribbon Restaurants, where she has created the menu art and décor since its inception.  Jen’s most recent projects include collaborations with writer Tim Hall on “Uplift the Positivicals” at ACT-I-VATE.com, wine label art for Brooklyn Oenology, and "Railbirds," an ongoing drawing project inspired by Aqueduct Racetrack. Jen created art for “Monster Mash-ups,” a collaboration with Tim Hall exhibited at Bergen Street Comics in Fall 2010. Her work is featured in HBO's noir comedy "Bored to Death".
